Karen (Kromholtz) Kraft began her training here in Spokane with Thelma Young, NYCB soloist William Earl and later with professionals from the First Chamber Dance Company of Seattle. After high school, she trained in New York on scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School and with David Howard. She was soon asked to join the Joffrey II Dancers where she was invited by Robert Joffrey to join the Joffrey Ballet Company. Later she danced with the Spokane Ballet Company partnering with NYC Ballet and Boston Ballet Soloist Christofer Aponte. Highlights of her performing career include working with Robert Joffrey, Anthony Tudor, Jaques D'Amboise, Laura Dean, Choo San Goh, Christopher Aponte, and performing for President Ronald Reagan. Some of her favorite performances include Le Corsaire pas de deux, Tchaikovsky pas de deux, Romeo and Juliet balcony scene, Anthony Tudor's 'Continuo', and Odette from Swan Lake. She has a BA degree in Dance from the University of Washington, is married with four children, and has been teaching ballet in the Pacific NW for the past 25 years.
